Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning materials that are available free of charge to anyone inside or outside Utrecht University. Teachers and educational support staff can thus use and build on each other's work. The library supports the publication of open educational resources via and the publication of open textbooks via Pressbooks.

Creating Open Educational Resources and open textbooks involves a lot. In some of these aspects, the library can help you.   

Support for Open Educational Resources (OER)

The University Library offers the possibility to share learning materials on , SURF's national platform for OER. As a teacher, you can upload your own material via the . (in Dutch) for uploading and publishing educational resources are available from SURF. 
 

Do you have questions about using edusources or the SURFsharekit? If so, please contact the library. The library also supports setting up subject communities and collections in edusources. Please contact the library to discuss the possibilities. 

Support open textbooks

In late 2024, the library launched a two-year pilot to support publishing open textbooks with . The library supports the technical use of the platform, e.g. in classifying content and using interactive elements. The library also provides advice on reusing materials and using (Creative Commons) licences.
