Vidar Stevens is an assistant-professor at Utrecht University School of Governance with a specific focus on the governance of violence and integrity in sports. Before he worked for the Mulier Institute, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the University of Antwerp. The core of his research focusses on how sports as a subsystem of society deals with integrity issues. He particularly looks at how grassroots sports organizations deal with cases of sexual abuse, dynamics of criminal interference, and matters of inclusion and diversity. Vidar studied Public Administration (bachelor) at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and participated in the Research Master program “Public Administration and Organisational Sciences” of the University of Utrecht (cum laude). He did his PhD at the University of Antwerp. Vidar’s PhD thesis was shortlisted for the Van Poelje Award 2018 (award for best Flemish and Dutch Public Administration thesis). Besides teaching and doing scientific research, Vidar regularly does consultancy work. Throughout the years, he has done consultancy work for different stakeholders like, the International Olympic Committee, Disability Sports the Netherlands, Ministry of Welfare, Health and Sports, Ministry of Justice and Safety, and various municipalities in the Netherlands.
