The research of dr. Marlies Maes focuses on loneliness among adolescents. In her research, Marlies aims to understand why some adolescents feel lonely and continue to feel lonely, while others do not. In addition, she focuses in her work on the conceptualization and measurement of loneliness. Having developed (a Meta-Analytic Study on Loneliness) further enables Marlies to integrate research findings on loneliness and to provide robust evidence on a broad range of questions concerning (youth) loneliness.
