After studying political science at Leiden University, Marcel Hoogenboom obtained a PhD degree in Sociology at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (ASSR) of Amsterdam University. Prior to his work as Assistant Professor of the Department of Interdisciplinary Social Science of Utrecht University, he worked as a researcher and teacher at the University of Twente.
