Dr. van Tuijl defended her thesis entitled βSelf-esteem in depression and anxiety: Low, Unstable, and Discrepant?β in 2017 at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. In the years after, she had postdoctoral positions at King's College London (on the topic of cognitive biases and anxiety in people with Parkinson's) and University Medical Center Groningen (on the topic of psychosocial factors and cancer incidence). She continues to do research on these topics, as well as the topic where it all originally started: self-esteem.
