Judith Keilbach is Associate Professor in the Media and Culture Studies Department at Utrecht University (The Netherlands). She received her Ph.D. in Film Studies from the Freie Universit盲t Berlin.
She is the author of (historical images and witnesses, 2008), co-author of Schl眉sselbegriffe der Public History (2021) and Key Terms of Public History (2025), and co-editor of Grundlagentexte zur Fernsehwissenschaft (2002), Die Gegenwart der Vergangeheit (2003), (2009), V枚lkermord zur Prime Time (2019) and (2021).
Her research interests include media infrastuctures, the transformation of television, television history and theory, the relation of media technology and historiography, media and sustainability, media events, archives, animals and aerial images.
She is leader of the special interest group Greening the Digital Society, a member of the Network for Environmental Humanities and of the research collective (MI3) at Utrecht University, leader (together with Michal Pabis-Orzeszyna) of the workgroup of the European Network for Cinema and Media Studies (necs), and member of the .
Her current research projects focus on media infrastuctures and sustainability, sustainable film production in the Netherlands, transnational media events in television history, and on data-driven screenwriting (together with Hanna Surma).
For her research project on 'Televising the Eichmann trial' she was awarded a Leibniz Summer Fellowship from the Center of Contemporary History Potsdam (2013), a NIAS Fellowship from the (September 2014 鈥� January 2015) and a Senior Fellowship from the (April - August 2016).
2015 to 2021 she was member of the steering committee of the (NECS).
