Charis Goer is Assistant Professor of German Literature and Culture. Before coming to Utrecht, she worked at the universities of and in Germany. She has received study and PhD scholarships from the , a junor fellowhip at the, and the postdoc-fellowship at the . She is speaker of the interdisciplinary and international research group .
Research
Charis Goer's work focuses on German-language literature in its international, medial, and cultural contexts. She is particularly interested in the dynamics of exchanges and crossovers, but also the demarcation of literatures, cultures, media, and arts. Her areas of expertise cover an historically and systematically wide range:
- German literature and culture from the 18th century to the present (enlightenment, Sturm und Drang, Weimarer Klassik, romanticism, fin de si猫cle, post 1945 and contemporary literature and culture)
- literature and media/arts (literary descriptions of music and images, literary adaptations, theories of (inter-)mediality)
- popular literature and culture (poetics and history of German-language pop literature, pop and politics, theories of popular culture)
- interculturality and cultural transfer ((post-)migrant literature and culture, German orientalisms, Anglo-American-German cultural transfer)
- didactics of German literature (didactic aspects of slamand performance poetry, history and theory of the didactics of literature)
Teaching
Charis Goer has extensive teaching experience on BA and MA levels in various programs, mainly German literature, comparative literature, teacher education, and media studies. At 乐鱼后台 she teaches in the BA German Language and Culture, the MA Literature Today, the MA German Language and Culture: Education and Communication, as well as in the nationwide .
