Dr. Bonno Pel is assistant professor in critical innovation studies. His research is focused on the governance and politics of sustainability transitions and processes of transformative social innovation. He has studied these themes in various empirical areas such as traffic management, social enterprises, energy citizenship and energy prosumerism, circular economy, digital transition, delta area management, sustainable festival management, and labour transformation.
After Master's degrees in environmental planning and socio-political philosophy (Universiteit van Amsterdam), he obtained his doctoral degree at the Governance of Complex Systems research group (public administration) at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has previously worked for the Rathenau institute for technology assessment, the Dutch Research Institute for Transitions (DRIFT), and nearly a decade for the Centre d'Etudes du développement durable (CEDD)/Social-environmental dynamics research group (SONYA) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (BE). He has fulfilled coordinator and work package lead roles in several multi-tiered research projects on regional, national and European levels.
