Research focus: Roman colonialism, landscape archaeology and (re)development of the Roman colonial landscape, and Roman imperialism. 

Anouk Vermeulen is an archaeologist and historian of the ancient world. Her research focuses on the foundation of colonies and development of the surrounding landscape as tool of imperialism and bureaucratic control under the Roman emperors. 

Anouk Vermeulen studied at the Radboud Unievrsity Nijmegen and the University of St Andrews (UK), where she received her doctorate in 2016.
