I am the Director of Education of the School Liberal Arts, consisting of four interdisciplinary bachelor programs (Philosophy, Politics and Economics; Artificial Intelligence, Language and Culture Studies and Liberal Arts and Sciences). School Liberal Arts - ÀÖÓãºǫ́ (uu.nl)

As an associate professor in interdisciplinary teaching and learning, my research is aimed at the digital support of interdisciplinary learning. Here I combine my background in cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence and higher education. My research focuses on how blended/online tools facilitate knowledge construction and connective and integrative thinking. Part of this is how methods in artificial intelligence can be used to improve aspects of interdisciplinary learning, for example through intelligent tutoring systems. In addition, I look at different kinds of knowledge creation through interdisciplinary courses and curricula and collaboration between teachers of different backgrounds. I am part of the research group Transmission in Motion, Scholarship of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching:

As a teacher, I am involved in interdisciplinary courses on Bachelor level (Liberal Arts and Sciences), Master level (Medical Humanities) and I am a facilitator of the Interdisciplinary Teaching Training Programma at the Centre for Academic Expertise. Finally, I am involved in the professionalization of teachers as one of two humanities SoTL advocates for the University wide USO: ‘get started and keep going with SoTL!’ and as an advisor in the Humanities Task force on the responsible use of Generative AI.
