Henk Aarts received his PhD at Nijmegen University where he worked on habit and decision making. He subsequently worked at Eindhoven University of Technology and Leiden University. Since 2006 he has been a full professor in psychology at Utrecht University. He studies and teaches several topics related to cognition and social behavior. He is particularly interested in the role of goals and motivation in human behavior, habit formation, personal autonomy and experiences of agency when interacting with human and artificial agents. His work is published in fundamental and applied journals.
Henk Aarts is member of the GOALLAB, consisting of a team of scientists that conduct research and teach several topics of Cognition and Social Behavior.
