Domitilla (domi) Olivieri is an anthropologist, activist, teacher, and researcher. I work as assistant professor at the Graduate Gender programme, at Utrecht University. My research and didactics are in the field of feminist, queer, postcolonial and decolonial theory, documentary film, visual anthropology, media, and cultural studies.

Committed to bridging the distance between academic and non-academic communities, I am active in academic, artistic, and other political spaces, and have been involved for many years in feminist, queer, anti-racist, anti-capitalist militant activism.

My academic publications include: 鈥淚n the Spiral of Time. Conversation with Trinh T. Minh-ha鈥 for Transnational Screens; 鈥淪lowness as a mode of attention and resistance: playing with time in documentary cinema and contesting the rhythms of the neoliberal university鈥 in Contention; 鈥淪hattered images and desiring matter. A dialogue between Hito Steyerl and Domitilla Olivieri鈥 in Carnal Aesthetics: Transgressive Imagery and Feminist Politics; and a special issue of Feminist Media Studies entitled 鈥淎ffective Encounters: Tools of Interruption for Activist Media Practices鈥.

My latest works focus on documentary practices, time and spaces of the everyday, forms of social and political relationality and contestation, activist interventions in neoliberal academia, and rhythm in (documentary) media.

I am also a member of foundation, sex worker film and arts festival.
