Dr. Rianne Dekker

Dr. Rianne Dekker is an Assistant Professor at the Utrecht University School of Governance (USG). As a sociologist focusing on public administration, she studies digital forms of social organization which reshape governance. Her research focuses on two grand societal challenges in which this occurs: 1) migration and integration and (2) public security. She uses co-design methods, including the living lab methodology as an engaged research practice. Rianne coordinates the master ‘Public Governance and Policy’ and she is ombudsman for PhD students at her department.

How do citizens engage with societal issues through social media and how can governments benefit from this?

Rianne Dekker has been a member of the Utrecht Young Academy, a bridge between young and talented researchers, since 2021.
