The Mexican author Carlos Fuentes (1928-2012) is not only an inevitable reference for present-day Mexican literature, he has always emphasised his indebtedness to Spanish literature. In particular, he has consistently positioned himself as a follower of the baroque. The new book by Dr Reindert Dhondt is the first systematic study of the baroque in four representative novels by Fuentes: Aura, Constancia y otras novelas para v铆rgenes, La frontera de cristal and Todas las familias felices.
