Low-cost open access publishing at PLOS

In 2025 and 2026, researchers from Utrecht University and UMC Utrecht will be able to publish their articles open access at an affordable price with publisher PLOS (Public Library of Science). Seven magazines are part of this deal, including PLOS ONE.

Authors do not receive an invoice when they publish in one of the journals within the agreement. However, the costs could be passed on within the university. Agreements about this will be made with the faculties in 2025. So keep in mind that costs for the publication may still be charged to your research budget.
The journals that are part of this deal are: PLOS ONE; PLOS Complex Systems; PLOS Computational Biology; PLOS Digital Health; PLOS Genetics; PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases; PLOS Pathogens.
