The American Men’s Studies Association (AMSA) awarded one of its annual Loren Frankel Memorial scholarships to PhD student . She received the scholarship during the 23rd Annual Conference of the AMSA in New York.

Nardini received the award for her paper: “Men’s Mobilizations for Gender Justice: Thinking Through G/Local Strategies and Challenges Starting from the Italian and Spanish Cases”. She is a PhD student at the Institute for Cultural Inquiry at Utrecht University and at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Barcelona. In Utrecht she is supervised by Prof. and Dr .

Nardini holds a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy (University of Siena, Italy) and finished the Master programme Gender and Ethnicity cum laude (Utrecht University). Her research interests include the intersections of new-materialist feminist theories and epistemologies, critical studies on men and masculinities, social movements, social and critical theory, and Italian cultural studies.

The Loren Frankel Memorial Scholarship

The Board of Directors of the American Men’s Studies Association established the Loren Frankel Student Scholarship Fund in 2005. The fund is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Loren Frankel, an inspiring and beloved young professor of psychology at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia who died tragically in an automobile accident in 2004.

The Scholarship Fund supports students engaged in the critical study of men and masculinities like Dr. Frankel. It provides up to $500 each year to a qualified student or students attending and presenting at the annual AMSA Men’s Studies Conference.
