Our board member was recently interviewed by NRC about Australia’s refugee policy. The article examines why this policy is often considered a blueprint for Europe. Ilse van Liempt raises strong concerns about its suitability, not only due to its questionable relationship with human rights but also because of the vast geographical differences between Australia and Europe. However, she also acknowledges one positive aspect of the Australian model: its provision of a legal pathway for 20,000 refugees annually through a dedicated migration program.
