Lecture Mandy Rose: Virtual Realities. Documentary’s Immersive Turn

On Thursday 15 May, the (NOG) and (RMeS) are organising a public lecture by (University of the West of England, Bristol). In ‘Virtual Realities: Documentary’s Immersive Turn’, Rose will discuss immersive media and the unexpected rise of Virtual Reality (VR) in nonfiction over the past decade.
Rose will explore issues that arise as documentary producers engage with new platforms and technologies, as well as the kinds of audience experiences enabled by digital media.
Masterclass ‘Virtual Reality and the Immersive Turn’
Before the lecture, Rose will give a masterclass intended for RMA students and PhD candidates. In ‘Virtual Reality and the Immersive Turn’, attendees will critically analyse immersive technologies through various lenses, including media, postcolonial, and gender studies, while reflecting on their ethical implications.
